Electronica For Mammals
Electronica for Mammals is a collaborative electronic album by Seth Clark, Hugo Keith, and Grant Miller, featuring electronic percussion orchestra, and multi-timbral synthesized soundscapes. The collection explores sound at its most fundamental level, using computer software and digital hardware to create entirely new timbres or radically transform existing samples until they become unrecognizable from their original sources.
A pre-release listening room.
These first four pieces open the door to a collaborative album of electronic percussion orchestra and multi-timbral synthesized soundscapes, where texture, resonance, rhythm, density, motion, and color become the primary musical materials.
Rather than using technology simply to imitate or enhance traditional instruments, the album looks beyond the familiar vocabulary of Western music. Its compositions focus on sound as raw material: texture, resonance, rhythm, density, motion, and color. Electronic processes become instruments in their own right, producing timbres that are distinctive, unfamiliar, and beautiful on their own terms.
At the center of the album is a fascination with sonic transformation. Dark, abrasive, or frightening sounds are reshaped into something unexpectedly reassuring. That reassurance is not always soft or soothing. At times, comfort emerges through weight, energy, and a sense of benign power—a true force within the sound that feels protective rather than threatening.
Through collaboration, experimental sound design, and the expanded rhythmic language of electronic percussion orchestra, Electronica for Mammals creates a musical environment that is strange but inviting, powerful but humane. It is electronic music concerned not only with what sound can become, but with how transformed sound can affect the body, imagination, and emotional life of the listener.
